Happy Birthday Lorna, 86 to-day. We hear that you had a family gathering yesterday at Narelles. Have a great day!!
We were fortunate to secure a powered site early this morning so we set up and headed out to the Five Rivers Lookout. We were not sure what to expect but were told that it is one of the top nine views in the world - really!!??
Well, it is simply stunning! It is an excitingly beautiful view of the Cambridge Gulf and the Port of Wyndham where five rivers enter the Gulf. The rivers are the King, Durack, Forrest, Pentecost and Ord.
From there we drove to Telegraph Hill (a telegraph station during WW1) for a view over Parrys Lagoon and then on to a bird watching hide at Marlgu Billabong. We have never seen so many birds in one location and it was just a beautiful place.
We then drove to Parrys Creek Farm which includes a very picturesque camping ground beside a billabong - it is a good dirt road into the park and we could have stayed here. The old town of Wyndham and the Port were next on the list followed by a re-fuel and back home.
This afternoon we plan on taking a bottle of wine to the Five Rivers Lookout for, what we are told, is a magnificent sunset. Well, we did it and we shared the experience with a lot of others, BUT we had our chairs on the front row!!
If you are up this way Wyndham is not to be missed!
Tomorrow we leave Wyndham and aim to meet Lance and Dell at Timber Ceek in the Gregory National Park.
