The Broome races were cancelled for to-day (by Race President Doug Milner) and this is the first time this has ever happened in July. Some of the roads (eg Geike Gorge, Windjana Gorge, Tunnel Creek) are closed and it is fortunate that these are not on our itinerary.
We drove through light showers to our first stop at Willare Roundhouse and topped up our fuel - we have been advised to not rely on a specific town for fuel because sometimes they are waiting for a delivery - one fellow found this to be the case in Tom Price - sorry mate no diesel!
We then came to the Ellendale roadworks - we joined a short queue to be escorted along the 8km of dirt road which was in surprisingly good condition - although not for 2-way traffic.

We are now at Fitzroy Crossing for the night in Fitzroy River Lodge Caravan Park. We venture 'into the wilderness' again tomorrow.
