The Ord River & Lake Argyle

What a great day!
We were picked up at 9am, boarded our boat powered by three Yamaha V8's and proceeded across Lake Kununurra to the Ord River. Sections of the river were really beautiful and peaceful. We saw freshwater crocodiles (harmless to humans!?), Osprey Eagles, Sea Eagles and Flying Foxes. We called in to a bush camp prepared by Triple J Tours and enjoyed an excellent lunch.
We then continued to the base of the dam wall for Lake Argyle - water from this lake provides hydro electricity for the whole region and feeds into Lake Kununurra to maintain its water level for irrigation down stream.
We were then bussed to the 'resort' near the top of the dam wall and then to Lake Argyle for our sunset cruise.
Our skipper was a young fellow with a real passion for wildlife.
The lake holds at least twenty times the water in Sydney Harbour and the whole area is teeming with wildlife. Once again we cruised up close and personal to crocodiles, wallaroos, pelicans and magnificent eagles as we crossed part of the lake. Some people went overboard for a swim but we were a little apprehensive at sharing the water with ANY type of crocodile. Sunset was not as stunning as it was at Darwin.
We were then bussed back to our van, arriving about 7pm.
